Associate of Applied Science in Education

The Education Program is designed to prepare paraeducators for employment in Kentucky classrooms. The program includes multiple levels. The Certificate Program is designed to prepareEducation paraeducators for entry-level positions and to successfully complete the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or Kentucky Department of Education approved alternative assessment. The Associate in Applied Science Degree offers two options: one for paraeducators wishing only a two-year degree and another for those wishing to enter a university teacher education program.

Jefferson, along with all KCTCS institutions, partners with Kentucky’s public and private four-year universities, the Kentucky Department of Education, The council on Postsecondary Education, and the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board to guarantee the classes taken at Jefferson will transfer among participating secondary, two-year and four-year institutions.

With proper planning, students can earn an associate degree that includes at least 60 credit hours that will transfer into a baccalaureate (four-year) teacher preparation program at any public university in Kentucky and several private colleges and universities.
