The CREW Center Internship, Co-operative
and Experiential education program provides an opportunity for students
to work for an employer and
earn academic credit. The position must be related to a student's
major and the student must develop measurable learning objectives
tying the experience to his or her degree program. Each student
will meet with his/her employer and an assigned faculty representative
at the beginning of the semester to set up the objectives. The faculty
member will return at the end of the semester to meet with the student
and the student's supervisor to evaluate the experience. By participating
in this program, students gain work experience related to their
major, increase their marketability upon graduation, have an opportunity
to preview career objectives in an actual work setting, and in some
cases, could lead to full-time employment.
Students may enroll in one of three programs:
- Cooperative Education : Students completing
a technical degree participate through Cooperative Education.
Co-ops are paid positions in which the student works a minimum
of 20 hours per week during the semester.
- Internship Programs : Students in computers,
office systems, or communication may elect to participate in Internships.
This program involves 10 hours per week in an unpaid position.
- Experiential Education : Students planning
to complete the transfer degree (and attend U of L or another
four-year college) are eligible to participate in Experiential
