The goal of the mentorship program is to create a link from what the student learns in the classroom to career choices. All students at are eligible to apply but your opportunity for a match will depend upon the availability of professionals.

STUDENTS

Benefits for Students:

  • Advice on career goals
  • Opportunity to apply for scholarships
  • Opportunity to network with a professional in the field
  • Professional role model
  • Help with social, personal, and professional skills
  • Visibility and exposure

Students Agree To:

  • Commit to the program for a minimum of two semesters
  • Contact mentor for initial meeting
  • Work with your mentor to establish objectives, goals and/or expectations for the relationship
  • Set and keep appointments with the mentor at regular intervals throughout the year
  • Participate in program activities
  • Notify the program coordinator if your address, phone number or email changes.

Steps to Apply :

  • Complete program application. You can pick up an application at the CREW Center .
  • Attend informal interview
  • Attend program orientation

  • Satisfaction of contributing to the development of another person
  • Opportunity to interact with other professionals
  • Opportunity to participate in career development events for personal and professional growth
  • Structured program to develop the skills, values, and authority of being a mentor

Mentors Agree To:

  • Commit to the program for a minimum of two semesters
  • Set regular meeting times with mentees, meet and stay in touch
  • Participate in program activities
  • Establish tone of relationship
  • Develop an understanding of your mentees goals for the program for the year
  • Be a role model for your mentee
  • Complete periodic program evaluations
  • Keep the program coordinator informed of your progress.
