English
as a Second Language
[ En Español ]
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are available to help students develop English language skills necessary for college-level classes.
There are 4 levels of ESL classes: beginning, low-intermediate, high-intermediate, and advanced. Classes emphasize conversation, vocabulary, reading, and writing skills. Classes are offered in the morning and in the evening to accommodate students’ schedules.
Fall semester ESL classes begin in August. Spring semester ESL classes begin in January. Typically, one intermediate ESL class is offered in the summer session between June and August.
Follow these steps to enroll in ESL classes:
- Complete the KCTCS application for admission.
- Attend ESL Student Orientation.
- Complete the ESL COMPASS placement test.
- Meet with an ESL advisor for registration.
- Pay tuition fees by the deadline date.
Read this brochure for more details about the ESL program and the admission procedures.
Call the Multicultural Affairs Office to receive an admission packet or to schedule an appointment.
Students who require an F-1 student visa should visit the F-1 Student Admissions page.
