Expense explanation
Expense
Explanation:
Because studying and living in the United States can
be a very expensive endeavor, it is important that students and
their sponsors have a realistic understanding of the costs involved.
Please review the information about these expenses and keep in mind
that these figures are only estimates. The actual cost of living
is dependant upon the lifestyle of each student. Students and sponsors
should develop a long-term plan to cover the cost of a U.S. education.
Tuition and Fees:
F-1 students pay non-resident tuition fees at $390 per credit hour.
F-1 students must be enrolled full-time each semester for a minimum of 12
credit hours and pay a $30 semester
security fee. The total cost for one academic year
of tuition is $9,360. The tuition fees are subject to change at any
time and must be paid at the beginning of each semester.
Books: The cost of books for one academic year is $800. This is just an
estimate. The actual cost of books may vary according to subject,
number of classes in which the student is enrolled, and the availability
of used books.
Student Health Insurance: Students are not required to purchase health insurance. However,
the school very strongly recommends that students purchase a
comprehensive health insurance policy. The JCTC Health Coordinator
can help students decide on a health insurance plan that fits the
students' needs.
Housing Expenses:
Jefferson Community & Technical College does not provide student housing. All
students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements.
Students generally have no difficulty finding apartments near the
college campus. The estimated cost of
room and board for one academic year is $6952. This is only an estimate. The actual cost of your
housing expenses depends on the housing arrangements you make.
Living Expenses:
It is difficult to estimate the expense of living as a student in
Louisville because expenses will vary according to students’
individual tastes, habits, and the actual cost of living. However,
the College estimates personal and transportation expenses for one academic year to be
a minimum of $2740. This estimate does not include the
cost of airfare or the purchase of an automobile.
Dependants
:
If students intend to bring their families with them to the United
States, they must submit proof of an additional $4000 for spouses
and $2000 for each child. Spouses and children must each have a
Form I-20 in order to obtain an F-2 visa to accompany F-1 students.
