Jefferson colleges receive KCTCS approval to consolidate
|
CENTRAL CITY, Ky. -- Jefferson Community College and Jefferson Technical College cleared a final hurdle toward their consolidation as a single, comprehensive institution, earning the approval of the KCTCS Board of Regents to pursue accreditation as one college. The board met Aug. 13 on the Muhlenberg Campus of Madisonville Community College. The board’s unanimous approval effectively allows the colleges to function as a unified institution as it seeks final accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as one college. A site visit by SACS officials is expected in the spring. Full accreditation as a consolidated institution is expected in June 2005. Currently, Jefferson Community College is accredited by SACS; Jefferson Technical College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. |
