KCTCS Board of Regents set 2005/06 tuition rates, expand college programs
|
VERSAILLES, Ky. (March 18, 2005) – The board of regents of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) unanimously approved in-state tuition rates (including fees) at $98 per credit hour for the 2005/06 academic year during their March meeting.
The decision for a 6.5 percent increase from the 2004/05 tuition rates was made following the passage of the 2005 state budget which included an additional $45 million in base funding for the state colleges and universities. KCTCS is expected to receive approximately $12.6 million in additional base funding, plus an additional $1 million for enrollment growth.

(March 16, 2005) – Students regents from Gateway Community and Technical College and Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College have been elected to serve on the board of regents of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) during the 2005-06 academic year.

KCTCS raises grade for state’s workforce development
|
The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is getting national recognition for expanding educational opportunities and strengthening Kentucky’s workforce.
According to Measuring Up 2004, a study done every two years by the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, “Kentucky has recently made a heavy investment in its community and technical college system, enabling these institutions to play a much stronger role in workforce development. These investments appear to have paid off in the form of higher-than-average proportions taking and passing licensure examinations in fields like nursing and physical therapy.”

KCTCS president elected chair-elect of AACC board

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 14, 2004) - Michael B. McCall, president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), is chair-elect of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Board of Directors.
The election was held during the April board meeting held in conjunction with the 84th annual AACC convention in Minneapolis, Minn.

KCTCS develops Homeland Security program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2004) - In response to the ever-increasing education and training demands of the nation’s Homeland Security preparations, KCTCS has established its own Homeland Security training program. The program, coordinated through a steering team led by Hazard Community and Technical College President Jay Box, will provide specialized training across the state to meet the current and emerging education needs for operational security.
