KCTCS Board of Regents set 2005/06 tuition rates, expand college programs

VERSAILLES, Ky. (March 18, 2005) – The board of regents of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) unanimously approved in-state tuition rates (including fees) at $98 per credit hour for the 2005/06 academic year during their March meeting. The decision for a 6.5 percent increase from the 2004/05 tuition rates was made following the passage of the 2005 state budget which included an additional $45 million in base funding for the state colleges and universities. KCTCS is expected to receive approximately $12.6 million in additional base funding, plus an additional $1 million for enrollment growth.

KCTCS raises grade for state’s workforce development

The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is getting national recognition for expanding educational opportunities and strengthening Kentucky’s workforce. According to Measuring Up 2004, a study done every two years by the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, “Kentucky has recently made a heavy investment in its community and technical college system, enabling these institutions to play a much stronger role in workforce development. These investments appear to have paid off in the form of higher-than-average proportions taking and passing licensure examinations in fields like nursing and physical therapy.”
