What does it mean when my course is listed as “Unavailable”?
This means that the instructor has not opened the course to the class yet. You can be assured that you are enrolled (verify this through your People Soft student account), but will be unable to access the course until the instructor makes it available.
Why is my on-campus course listed on Blackboard?
All JCTC on-campus courses are created as “Web-Enhanced”, meaning that the instructor has the option to utilize Blackboard to supplement the course. While all classes will meet on campus at a specific time and place, Blackboard may be used to post additional course information. Your instructor will explain how/if they intend to use this feature.
When will my course display on Blackboard?
Typically, any changes (added or dropped courses) on your People Soft student account will be updated on Blackboard the next day.
How do I get rid of old courses still displaying on my Bb page?
Once you login, find the “pencil” icon in the upper right-hand corner of the “Course List” box. Clicking on this icon will allow you to arrange your sections to display as you prefer.
Why do I receive a login error?
If you have logged in to Bb previously: Please check to see if you can login to KCTCS Webmail/People Soft. If not, you need to reset your password. Go to the eStudent Services page to do this.
If you have never logged in to Blackboard : Before having access to Bb, you must activate your KCTCS Webmail. Once this is set, you are given a username and password which provides access to:
- Webmail
- Blackboard
- People Soft
Who do I contact regarding technical issues while logged on to Bb?
The first contact is always your instructor. This includes issues such as resetting a test, documents not opening, or missing links. Further technical support is provided by the KCTCS 24/7 HelpDesk, located under the “Help” tab.
Can I use my Blackboard account from another institution (outside KCTCS)?
No. Each institution has its own Bb presence. The KCTCS Bb website will only display information from a KCTCS account.
What internet browser should I use for Bb?
Currently Bb recommends Firefox. Go to the “Help” tab at the Bb site for information on this and other related subjects.
Where can I find an instruction manual for Bb?
Within your course, go to “Course Tools”. From there, click “User Manual”. |
