African American Studies

The African American Studies certificate program prepares individuals to understand and think critically about the issues confronting Africa and African Americans. JCTC’s interdisciplinary approach includes literature, music, history, communication and social sciences. Students completing this program will understand African American culture and be able to actively engage in the issues thataffect African Americans. This knowledge can be applied to positionsin education, government, research, healthcare, and the fine arts.
