Zoo Animal Technology

Certificate Program offered at Jefferson Community & Technical College and the Louisville Zoo.

The program is a partnership of JCTC and the Louisville Zoological Gardens.

The Zoo Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions at zoos and related occupations.

The curriculum gives students a background in writing, computer applications, communication skills, animal biology, conservation biology, applied mathematics and basic zoo operations.

The certificate program requires a minimum of 19 classroom hours as well as acceptance into and successful completion of a summer program (Applied Experiences in Zoo Technology) at the zoo's BOMA Village petting zoo.
