Tips for Avoiding Financial Traps
Make a budget before you get your financial aid money. This will allow you to plan exactly how to spend your money wisely.
Review financial aid options wisely. Don’t take out more loans than you need.
You are not required to accept the maximum amount of money offered to you.
Remember, you may need to borrow money later if you are planning to transfer to another college with higher tuition.
Open a savings account and put the money you have left in savings for unexpected expenses.
Special points of interest:
Know the college deadlines and the con-sequences of not meeting them.
Know who your financial aid counselor is and when they are available.
Filing the FASFA does not guarantee your financial aid.
Dropping classes can cost you money in the long run.
Use financial aid and scholarship money appropriately. It will save you money in the long run.
