Louisville Metro Mayor Greg Fischer will be on the Downtown Campus at 3:30 p.m. today, May 29, 2012, to help 55,000 Degrees kick off its Count Me In! initiative. All are invited to this free, special event to be held in the lobby of the Hartford Building.
Also, speaking will be JCTC President Dr. Tony Newberry, also vice-chair of the 55,000 Degrees board, and 2012 JCTC graduate Lisa Board, one of Jefferson’s two representatives to the KCTCS All-State Academic Team and president of the Shelby County Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Lisa, who aspires to law schools, tells a powerful story about her motivation to succeed. They will be joined by JCTC graduates, Lori Hackley and Heather Young, and as well as other area college graduates.
Jefferson is a charter member of 55,000 Degrees, a movement to increase the number of college graduates in our region by 55,000 Degrees by 2020. Reaching this number will mean that half of all working-age adults will have college degrees, placing Louisville in the top tier among competitor cities.
Count Me In! is an invitation to everyone in the community to play a role in helping the city reach its goal. Everyone is invited to take the Count Me In! Pledge: https://qtrial.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_bNGpwbgR7uVCbsw
