I.                   Applying for pharmacy school right now? Did you know…

If you are planning to apply to UK College of Pharmacy for a start date of Fall 2010, apply now! Keep in mind…. PharmCAS can take 3-6 weeks to verify your transcripts and process your application before forwarding it to us. To ensure your application will be considered, it’s important to apply now.  And remember…. You can also submit your application before you receive your PCAT results.  If you recently took the October PCAT for example, don’t wait for your scores before applying for admission.  Apply now, and PharmCAS will simply forward your score to us once it is received and we will add the information to your file. Make sure you have requested your PCAT score to be sent to PharmCAS, by using code 104 from the PCAT application. Contact PCAT directly if PharmCAS does not already have your scores. Please be reminded that PharmCAS will only forward us scores submitted to them during this current application cycle. If you had scores sent PharmCAS prior to the beginning of this application cycle (before June 2009), you must contact PCAT and request to have your scores forwarded again to PharmCAS.

Dear Advisors,

Please allow me to introduce myself as the new Recruiter and Pre-Pharmacy Advisor for the UK College of Pharmacy. I look forward to working with many of you and your students. Please see the below announcement regarding our upcoming UK Health Careers Open House.  Please forward this information to your students and encourage them to register early if they plan to attend! This is a great opportunity for the students to learn about the Pharmacy profession.

I. Health Careers Open House

The 2nd annual Multicultural Health Careers Open House will take place Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the Charles Wethington Building. The Open House targets minority students interested in Health Careers.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about the professional programs (Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health) at the University of Kentucky.

Now in its second year, the Multicultural Health Careers Open House continues the University's commitment to building diversity by targeting traditionally underrepresented minorities interested in the Health Professions.  This event will give prospective students and their families the opportunity to meet and greet some of the Deans and select staff and students from each of the Health Colleges.  Students will also have the chance to choose interest sessions with the Colleges of Health Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health.  This year, we’ve even added some other workshops/session that we think will be of even greater benefit to students including  financial aid resources, interviewing , test preparation and other ways to be a competitive applicant.  Students will also have the chance to go on a tour of the UK Healthcare Medical Campus and hear a student panel presentation.  Please keep in mind that although this event targets minority students, it is open to any and everyone!

Registration is required and takes place in advance online. Seating is limited, so please encourage your students to register early!  The form can be accessed via our webpage at www.uky.edu/omsa/health.htm or directly via this link: http://iweb.uky.edu/OMSAOpenHouse/mchc.aspx
