Recommendations regarding Sullivan
University’s “Additional” courses
Sullivan University has
relatively flexible science requirements.
Refer to the table below and compare Sullivan to other regional pharmacy
schools. Note that Sullivan is unusual
in recommending “additional” science or management classes but not specifying
what you must take.
It is not wise for
Jefferson students to fulfill these requirements with management or with
relatively easy 100-level science classes (like astronomy, for instance). Most of Jefferson’s management classes are
for two-year degree programs and will
most likely not transfer to other schools in the event that you are not accepted to Sullivan or in the
event that you decide not to pursue a pharmacy degree. 100-level science classes will not enhance your transcript once
you already have classes like Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Sullivan students should take challenging
science courses such as a second semester of algebra-based physics or
higher-level biology classes and labs for courses like physics and
microbiology. These are courses that
will be of benefit to you should you end up doing something else besides going
to Sullivan’s pharmacy school. In short,
you should follow the recommended pre-pharmacy curriculum listed in the curriculum guide -- this curriculum gives
you the best preparation regardless
of where you end up in your college career.
