2009-10
Commonwealth Scholarship
You may be
eligible to apply for the KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship for the 2009-10
academic year. The attached scholarship application states the deadline is
March 2, 2009. The deadline has been extended to Wednesday, October 14, 2009.
Please see the attached application and the requirements below. I encourage you
to apply if you meet the criteria.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship
The Abbott
& Fenner Scholarships are available to students currently registered in any
accredited post secondary institution. Deadline: June 20, 2009, award
value: $1,000; ages 16 to 30.
Elizabeth
Browning Adams Memorial Scholarship
Open to
Nursing students with minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference given to students who
demonstrate financial need and engage in regular community service.
Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology,
Engineering, Math, and Science (AHETEMS) Scholarship Program.
AHETEMS Scholarship program is designed to enhance and achieve the potential of
Latino students pursuing degrees in engineering, math and science.
Merit-based and need-based scholarships are awarded, in the amount of $1,000 -
$5,000.
Advertising Federation of
Louisville
The Louisville Advertising Education Foundation Scholarship Application.
In 2009, two scholarships for $2,500 each will be awarded.
Anne Biven
Nursing Textbook Fund
Provides $300
for books for one semester. Open to students enrolled in the Jefferson Nursing
program. Must demonstrate financial need.
Chase
Scholarship
Open to new or
current students who demonstrate through previous achievements a capability of
doing college work. Current or former JCTC students must have maintained a
minimum 3.0 GPA. New students must submit a valid and dated high school
transcript. Must demonstrate financial need.
Community College Transfer Scholarships
Several $500 scholarships will be awarded to students transferring from 2-year
or community colleges. Criteria include: Classified as a transfer student by
Admissions (see Certificate of Admission), 2.5 minimum GPA, transferring from
any accredited community college.
Education in Action
Please read the Education in Action letter which states the requirements
that must be met in order to receive the scholarship.
Janice Denise
Covington Memorial Scholarship
Open to
African-American, Kentucky residents enrolled full-time in Radiologic Technology
with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Must demonstrate financial need.
The Pat Drago
Memorial Scholarship
Open to
students not enrolled in college for at least one year and whose primary campus
of enrollment is the JCTC Southwest Campus. Must demonstrate financial need.
Ronald C.
Goebel, M.D., Memorial Scholarship Fund in Radiologic Technology
Open to
students enrolled in Radiology Technology. Applicants must Kentucky residents
with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Antoinette C. Hodes Scholarships
The
Scholarship was established in 1994 to honor the memory of Antoinette C. Hodes.
The Nominee must: (1) Be a college student enrolled in a Kentucky public
or private college; (2) Have performed Volunteer Service / Worked in a
Mental Health related environment; (3)Be considering or engaged in a
course of study in Mental Health / Substance Use (Social Work, Psychology,
Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, etc.)
Evan and Katherine Harrod
Scholarship
The Scholarship was established in 2003 to honor the memory of the parents of
Mental Health Association of Kentucky Board member Evan Harrod.
The Nominee must: (1) Reside in an area of Kentucky having a population of
10,000 or less; (2) Be a college student enrolled in a Kentucky public or
private college; (3) Have performed Volunteer Service/Worked in a Mental
Health related environment; (4) Be considering or engaged in a course of study
in the Mental Health Field (Social Work, Psychology, Medicine, Nursing, Allied
Health, etc.)
The Highland
Woman’s Club Endowed Scholarship
Open to single
parents, head of household, with dependent children, who are enrolled full-time
at Jefferson and demonstrate financial need. Must submit a copy of the most
recent year’s tax filings.
Hispanic College Fund
The Hispanic College Fund scholarship programs are currently open.

Ronald Horvath Academic Assistance Scholarship
Open to regular full-time Jefferson employees enrolled in courses at Jefferson
with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Awards are given to offset the cost of education,
including books, childcare and supplies. Applicants must submit a one-page essay
describing their need.
Dr. and Mrs.
Ronald Horvath Tuition Scholarship
Open to
children and grandchildren of regular full-time Jefferson employees and to
children and grandchildren of Jefferson retirees who A) are Jefferson applicants
with a minimum 2.5 high school GPA, or B) are JCTC students who have completed
at least 12 credit hours with a cumulative minimum 2.5 GPA. Current high school
students must submit valid and dated high school transcript.
Dr. Alice
Howry James Memorial Scholarship
Open to
students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program. Must have completed
at least 6 credit hours prior to application, must carry at least 9 credit hours
during the semester of award, and have a career goal in education.
Industrial
Chemical Technology Scholarship
Open to
students enrolled in Industrial Chemical Technology. Applicants must submit a
brief essay on their career goals. Preference may be given to Valley High School
graduates. High school seniors must submit a valid and dated transcript with
application.
Ivy Tech Community College & Jefferson Community College Transfer Scholarships
IU Southeast will offer
several competitive $2000 scholarships to outstanding students transferring from
Ivy Tech Community College & Jefferson Community & Technical College each year.
Criteria include: 50 or more earned hours at ITCC or JCTC & minimum 3.0 GPA.
Jefferson
Community & Technical College Merit Scholarship
Open to
students who have completed 25 credit hours at Jefferson; must maintain a 3.5
GPA.
KCTCS Academic Transfer Scholarship
Students who are transferring to the University of Louisville directly from a KCTCS institution or Ivy Tech Community College, Sellersburg may be eligible to apply for the
KCTCS Academic Transfer Scholarship.

KCTCS
Commonwealth Scholarship
Open to
Kentucky residents who are enrolled full-time at Jefferson and are current year
or prior year high school graduates in the top quartile of their graduating
class. Applicants must submit a valid and dated high school transcript. Must
demonstrate financial need.
KCTCS
Presidential Scholarship
Open to
students at Jefferson who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement with a
minimum 3.0 GPA. Must demonstrate financial need.
Imogene Kelly
Memorial Scholarship
Open to
Jefferson student enrolled in the Office Systems Technology (OST) program. Must
have a 2.5 GPA, with at least 15 completed hours and demonstrated financial
need.
Kentucky Colonels
Scholarship
Is available for the fall 2008 semester. The maximum award amount is $1250.00.
Phyllis Krantz
Memorial Scholarship
Open to
students with a declared major in Fine Arts. Must be currently enrolled with 15
credit hours completed, which includes 6 credit hours in studio art. Must
maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must submit a portfolio to be judged by
faculty members in the Fine Arts program. Preference given to students who
demonstrate financial need.

Foundation Scholarship
Open to
students entering the Engineering Technology or Industrial Chemical Technology
Programs in fall 2007 and are currently in good academic standing. If you are a
spring 2007 high school graduate or have not attended JCTC, you must submit a
valid and dated transcript with your application.
National City
Bank Scholarship
Open to new
Jefferson students who can demonstrate through previous academic achievements, a
capability of doing college work; and/or current Jefferson students with a
maintained minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference is given to students pursuing a career in
business. Students must submit a valid and dated high school transcript.
Norton
Healthcare Scholarship
Open to
students enrolled in Nursing or Allied Health programs.
PNC Bank
Scholarship
Open to new
Jefferson students who can demonstrate, through previous academic achievements,
a capability of doing college work; and/or current students with a maintained
minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to employees of PNC Bank, or spouses and
children of PNC Bank employees. Must submit a valid and date high school
transcript. Must demonstrate financial need.

Career Scholarship
Open to
Jefferson students who have not been enrolled in any school for at least the
last 12 months. Must be enrolled in a two-year career program and maintain a
minimum 2.5 GPA. Must demonstrate financial need.
Barbara Plum
Memorial Scholarship
Open to
full-time students enrolled in Early Childhood Education or part-time ECE
students who have completed at least 9 credit hours and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Must demonstrate financial need.
River City Business &
Professional Women’s Foundation, Inc. Scholarship
Grants may be
awarded to candidates who meet the following criteria: (1) Women 25 years
of age or older by July 1.; (2) U.S. citizen and resident of the
Louisville metropolitan area; (3) Evidence of acceptance into an
accredited program; (4) Need financial assistance to complete education or
upgrade skills; (5) Applicants need not be BPW members or require
endorsement of a BPW affiliate.

Textbook Scholarship
Open to students enrolled in Humanities programs who have achieved a minimum 3.0
GPA. Financial need considered.

Scholarship
Open to
Jefferson students enrolled full-time at the JCTC Shelby County Campus. Must
demonstrate financial need.
John T. Smith
Scholarship
Open to
African-American Kentucky residents enrolled at Jefferson. Must maintain at
least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours during
the semester of the award. Must demonstrate financial need.
The Steinberg
Family Scholarship
Open to
students enrolled in a Social Science program with at least 24 completed credit
hours and minimum 3.0 GPA.
Women
Leading Kentucky
Women Leading Kentucky Accepting Scholarship Applications for Female Students
Women
Leading Kentucky is a non-profit organization that has been awarding
scholarships since 2001 and is now accepting scholarship applications. The
$1,000, one time scholarship is available for female Sophomores and Juniors
enrolled full time at a Kentucky college or university. Female students must
have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better and must have demonstrated leadership abilities
on campus and/or in their community.
